Here’s the white sauce pasta recipe with step by step instructions. This white sauce pasta is made without using any cheese and still was really creamy in texture. This creamy white sauce pasta is very easy to prepare and you can whip it up for lunch/ dinner very quickly. I have tried this recipe wayyyy too much to not post it here. So today I decided to finally film the pasta in white sauce video and post the recipe here.
So, in order to make white sauce pasta at home, you need to make white sauce and then add in sauteed vegetables and cooked pasta to it. That’s it! It is really that simple to make this creamy white sauce pasta. One reader asked me a while ago if it’s okay to make the white sauce beforehand and freeze it for later use and the answer is YES you can do that. If you do that, later just de-freeze the white sauce, add in freshly sauteed veggies and some cooked pasta to it.

Here is how to make white sauce pasta at home–
Ingredients:
For the pasta:
- Penne pasta- 100g or 1+1/4 cup
- Onion- chopped
- Sweet corns- 1/4 cup (boiled)
- Carrot- chopped
- Capsicum- chopped
- Garlic cloves- 4 to 6 chopped
- Oil- 1.5 tbsp + 1 tsp
- Salt- 1/2 tsp
- Chilli flakes/ red chilli powder- 1/4 tsp
For the white sauce:
- All purpose flour- 2 tbsp
- Butter- 2 tbsp
- Milk- 1 + 1/2 cup
- Salt- 1/2 tsp
- Black pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
- Italian seasoning/ oregano- to season
Method to prepare the white sauce pasta:
- Take a pan, add in water, 1/2 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of oil. Let it boil. Once it starts boiling, add the pasta. Let the pasta boil for 9 to 11 minutes or until it’s fully cooked. Strain it and keep it aside.
- Then, add oil a pan and let it heat. Add chopped garlic and saute it. Then, add chopped onion and saute it too. After that, add chopped capsicum and carrot. Saute all the vegetables and add sweet corns the end. After 1 to 1.30 min, turn off the flame and keep the veggies aside.
- Now for the white sauce, take 2 tbsp of butter; let it melt. Add 2 tbsp of all purpose flour and stir it with a spatula to form a smooth paste without any lumps. Cook it on low- medium heat. After 2 min, it would be fully cooked, that’s when you need to turn the heat to low and add 1 cup of milk and stir it. Once it reaches a boil, immediately add in the rest (1/2 cup) of the milk and stir. Season it with 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of pepper. Also, add in Italian seasoning or oregano to add a little more flavour.
- Add in the sauteed veggies to the white sauce. Mix them well. Then, add in the cooked pasta and stir. Make sure to coat the pasta in the white sauce. Finally add in red chilli powder or chilli flakes and mix it well.
- Serve hot.
