Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast | PB & J Sandwich Recipe

peanut butter and jelly sandwich

Peanut butter and jelly is a combination I’ve been hearing about for ages. It is a popular sandwich in North America. It includes a layer of peanut butter and jelly or jam on a bread slice. Since, everyone on the Internet is like PB & J….I was so tempted to try it. I don’t know what’s the hype about this? It’s not that good. It is okay if you want to have a different sandwich one day but it’s nothing “mouth-watering” or “wow”!

Now, I finally tried it. I was hesitant because I don’t like peanut butter that much but the result was good. The jelly/jam made it taste good. Together, they taste much better than peanut butter alone. But, since I didn’t want to have a plain bread, I added a little twist to it. It is safe to say that it tastes better this way.

So, finally tried it and the results were good.

Ingredients: {Serves: 1}

  • Bread slices- 2 (I used brown bread)
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly/ Jam – (I used a mixed fruit jam; people typically use grape jam)
  • Egg- 1
  • Granulated sugar-1 tbsp
  • Vanilla extract- 1/4 tsp
  • Butter

Recipe for peanut butter and jelly french toast:

  1. Crack the egg in a bowl. Whisk it until the yellow and white is combined.
  2. Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract and mix well. The sugar doesn’t necessarily needs to melt. It would caramelize when you’ll toast the sandwich; which enhances the flavour.
  3. Now, take the 2 bread slices and apply jam on one and peanut butter on the other. I didn’t apply a lot of it.
  4. Now, heat a pan and add some butter to it. Spread the egg mixture on the top of the bread and toast it on the pan with the egg side on the bottom. Then, put the leftover egg mixture on the other side.
  5. Flip the sides after a minute. Toast them until both the sides are golden brown. I toasted the sides by holding the sandwiches vertically on the pan. This makes the edges really crisp!
  6. After that cut your sandwich into two and enjoy!
Leave your thoughts on this sandwich combination. Also, if you’ve been eating this in any other way, do share it in the comments below! 🙂
