Today after waking up at 11 am, eating bread and butter was the only option left for me but I didn’t want to have a plain breakfast, I wanted something with good spices. So, I made this masala bread. Also, this is a great recipe for times you’re left with a few slices of bread not enough for all.
This makes a good healthy meal. I’m also gonna post a bread poha recipe very soon on this blog. Stay tuned for that.
I hope you like this recipe and let me know how your thoughts on this recipe and send me pictures if you try it.
Ingredients:
(Serves: 2)
- Bread slices- 4
- Tomato (medium sized)- 1 finely chopped
- Green peas – 1/2 cup
- Onion (small)- 1 finely chopped
- Olive/ vegetable oil- 2 tbsp
- Salt- 1 tsp or according to taste
- Black pepper- 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder- 1/2 tsp
- Tomato ketchup- 2 tbsp
- Lemon- 1/2
Method:
- Take the bread slices and cut them into small cubes. One bread slice can be made into 9 small cubes. Keep them aside.
- Take a pan, add in the oil, let it heat for a few seconds, then add in onions. After the onions turn translucent, add in peas.
- After cooking them for a minute, add in, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder , 1/2 tsp garam masala powder and only 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder and salt.
- Mix the spices very well and add in the chopped tomato. Mix it well under the tomato releases all it’s water. Then, cover it with a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
- After 5 minutes, take off the lid, add in tomato ketchup and stir everything.
- Then add in the bread cubes. Coat the bread cubes nicely with all the spices but be gentle otherwise the bread cubes may break.
- Next add the remaining 1/2 tsp of salt and red chilli powder and mix everything well. Turn off the flame.
- Squeeze half a lemon on the top and mix well so that every cube is coated with the lemon juice.
- Serve hot.
