Soft & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies |
Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside- that’s how I would describe these perfect chocolate chip cookies. This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe that I have tried so far and I have tried my fair share of these.
These cookies are delicious, tried and tested. The holiday season calls for some good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies and what’s better than making these from scratch with your family. This chocolate chip cookies recipe is simple, easy and a crowd pleaser.
When I tried this recipe recently, I added this one ingredient that took the flavour to a whole new level. The secret ingredient being, 1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon. I haven’t mentioned this little hack in the video or in the ingredients since I only tried this recently and the recipe is perfect on it’s own. But, I highly recommend trying out the recipe with cinnamon if you can.
The Secret to Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies:
People have different preferences when it comes to how they like their chocolate chip cookies but for me my ideal chocolate chip cookie is crunchy on the outside and gooey/ soft on the inside- and that is why I am so fond of this recipe. Make sure to use good quality semi- sweet or even dark chocolate chips. I wouldn’t suggest using milk chocolate here because that would make the cookies way too sweet. Also, the recipe calls for baking SODA and not powder; emphasising on this because people switch these up quite often and it alters the end product.
Keep an eye on the cookies and make sure to take them out right when they start to turn brown. Do not be stick to the average time range I have mentioned because yours can be a little different than mine depending on the shape and size of your cookies.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg – 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 to 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions to make the Perfect Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies:
- Preheat the oven at 350F/ 175C.
- Add softened butter, add both white and brown sugar to it and cream those until it’s well combined and smooth.
- Crack an egg in it and beat it into the butter- sugar mixture. Stir in the vanilla extract. Then, add all purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until it forms a smooth dough, then stir in chocolate chips.
- Roll small balls of the cookie dough and place them on a lined baking tray.
- Bake for 8 to 10 min. Take them out of the oven right when they turn golden brown and let them sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before serving.
Tips & Notes:
- Make sure you leave enough room between the dough balls so the cookies don’t get stuck.
- Take them out when these are just starting to get brown, failure to do so may result in rock hard cookies.
- You may add 1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon to elevate the overall flavour up a notch.
- You may freeze the cookie dough by forming the dough balls and then placing them in a ziplock bag. When you want to make some, take them out of the freezer and bake for a little more than the regular baking time. They will last for a month in the freezer if stored as instructed.
