I totally love trying and having new recipes of pasta. I try a lot of pasta recipes but haven’t posted any on this blog yet because sometimes I don’t click pics when trying something for the first time, because I’m sometimes not sure of the results. But for this pasta recipe, it was not the first try, of course. I missed one thing in the recipe, that is basil leaves to top it off. It would’ve made the pictures more beautiful and enhanced the taste by a little fraction too.

You may also call this arrabbiata sauce pasta. In general recipes, they prepare the arrabbiata sauce and then just pour it over the boiled pasta. But, I have done it in a little different way. It somewhat tastes like Dominos red pasta, not exactly like it, but somewhat similar.
I loved the results for this pasta, like always, as I love pasta. You can try the exact same recipe with spaghetti, I’ve tried that too and posted that picture on Instagram and that time, I didn’t forget the basil leaves too. Anyways, I won’t rant about the basil leaves anymore, because the pasta tasted delicious and you’ll love it too. So, without any delay, let me start with the recipe 🙂
Ingredients: {Serves 1}
- Pasta- 1 cup (I used Penne,obviously)
- Tomatoes- 2
- Salt & black pepper- as per taste
- Oregano- 1 tbsp
- Tomato puree/ Pizza sauce- 4 tbsp
- Chopped onion- 1
- Chopped garlic cloves- 6
- Grated mozarella cheese- 1/2 cup {Optional: You can also adjust the amount according to your taste}
- Olive oil- 2 to 3 tbsp
- Tomato Ketchup – 2 tbsp
Recipe:
- Take the pasta and boil it until it is soft and chewy. Then, drain the water and wash the pasta with cold water to wash off the excess fat. Keep the boiled pasta aside.
- Now, blanch the two tomatoes. [How to blanch? – Boil water until it’s hot enough, make 4 cuts on the tomatoes (longitudinally) and add in the tomatoes in the boiling water (do not switch off the flame) and after 1 minute, add the tomatoes in ice cold water and the skin will peel off]
- Now, chop the blanched tomatoes and make sure to remove the seeds.
- Take a pan and add olive oil. Let is heat for a minute. Then, add the chopped garlic and saute it until it’s golden.
- Then, add in the chopped onions and saute them as well, until they’re golden brown.
- Add the chopped blanched tomatoes and cook them with the garlic and onions and after a minute, add in the salt and pepper.
- Then, add the tomato puree/ pizza sauce to it and mix everything well. After that, add 1/2 cup of water to it and let it cook on low flame. Keep stirring until everything is mixed well and a smooth gravy is formed.
- Add in the boiled pasta and mix well. Cook on high flame for about 2 more minutes. Add in the tomato ketchup. Sprinkle in the oregano. Then add half of the grated cheese and garnish with the other half of the grated cheese.
Note: You may use basil leaves for garnishing as well as add some chopped leaves while sauteing onions and garlic. That will help enhance the flavour.
Happy cooking your arrabbiata sauce pasta ^_^
